b. Because I like to read all about of Sherlock Holmes, his adventures are very interesting, and his methods to discover all the cases that he investigated.
c. I want to understand the different methodologies that use the author to make that his mean character can be so persuasive,in different environments presented in the various chapters.
d. I tried to use many strategies, for example: I read in silent places, because it help me to be focus. Also I read topics of my interest. I read in places with good light, I scan the entire reading to find the most relevant parts, and so can understand it involves the reading.
e. I think that the reading is a very important tool to can learn, because the reading helps to understand by means of clue words and arguments, that lead me to learning a new topic.

ReplyDeleteI read The Brontë story and the author is Tim Vicary
I like reading about old stories with mysterious characters, where the story-writer describes in detail the landscapes where the story develops. For this reason I decided to read this book, which has many characters and describes every one of them; and while you read you can feel the end is uncertain which makes the story a little bit more interesting.
I consider when I read a book I can get out different positive things of this. In my case when I read an English book I learn grammar, tenses, vocabulary and many other things for learning English. So with ‘The Brontë Story’ I want to have present some tenses and some words I didn’t know.
Also, to understand better the eloquence and order that it’s necessary to create a story.
With respect to the strategies, I tried to read in a silent place because it makes me concentrate; other strategy was to read in a place with light where I could read and keep concentrate; also when I felt me lost in the reading I tried to scan the entire reading again, and finally one of the most important, pay attention to when I can skim and when I need to understand every word.
As conclusion, the reading could be the best method to learn and understand English, reading it’s an important strategy for knowing new vocabulary and to advance in the way of this language.

ReplyDeletethis is a story wrote by Robert Louis Stevenson. I decided to read it, because It isn't only a comun story of fiction science, this is a real story about our life. So we have a life that everybody can see, it's a personal appearance, it looks us like a normal, kind ando good person, the physical aspect. But we have another life, that life is our best life because it reffers to own pleasure, it gives us the happines that the first life does not give us, like a ectasy from our evil side.
i want to get out of it, to do a reflect of myself because sometimes I'm a good woman for some people can see my actions and they say, great job, or you are a good person, but
I can not to be "I".
with respect to "reading strategies ideas" I was trying some of them as to read sitting up with a good light, without heavy music, without watching tv and I did an abstractwith my own words.
Reading help me to develop my learning process when I'm reading and the same time I'm doing a mental process where I create new knowledgefrom that physical process. Also, I can get new vocabulary and trasmit the text in draws, images, maps if I understood it.

Writing about my reading interests!
ReplyDeleteHi! I love reading crimes novels. I decided to choose “The big Sleep” wrote by Raymond Chandler in 1939. I enjoy reading topics about crimes because these kind of novels always have a “case” where there is a killer and a dead. I think that with crimes novels we learn to analyze better the world. Why? Because these novels use the scientific method. This method contains observation, analysis and deduction. And it is through of them where we understand real life.
On the other hand, when I chose this book I thought and I wondered several times “Whose this Big Sleep will be?” . Then, I decided to see it and when I realized it was a crime novel, I wanted to know the story and its characters. Also, I thought learn new vocabulary and to reinforce grammar.
For me, it is very important to read sitting up, with a good light, at a table; think about the purpose for the reading, translate difficult material into my own words, seek the meaning unknown words and to take notes about main ideas. I think that a good strategy is to tell story to someone.
Finally, readings are a support in my learning process because they give me an idea about the world, how imagine, argue, reflect and create in my life. Also, this reading process I allowed stimulating my mind and brain and developing other learning tasks like spelling, redaction and vocabulary.

DeleteI selected the book “Oliver Twist” by the very well-known writer Charles Dickens, I decided to read it because I looked it before many times and I wanted to know why it was one of the most important books of this author.
In the other hand I wanted to obtain something of this book, like each book that I have read; entertainment, new vocabulary, emotion, a moral or another perspective of this world, from the eyes of the great Dickens at his time (1830) and place (London). To read this book, I considered important certain strategies that made me understand better the structure and context of the story; for example, as everybody knows, the silence is really important, and read sitting up, because the English factor can make us fall asleep, in some cases; also break long assignments in segments of time or pages, and translate difficult parts into my own words.
To conclude, I consider that reading is the most important action in the human being’s daily routine, it’s a work that never ends and you enjoy it each time more, the books prepare you to develop activities, give you vocabulary, in all of the areas of knowledge and make you believe in things that you never would consider can be expressed by words.

ReplyDeleteI read “The age of the innocence” story and the author is Edith Wharton
I like to read stories like this, as it is very interesting to travel through time and learn a little more history, not necessarily to see chronologies and others, but to see it was like the old culture and how that theme is developed classes it is amazing to find those characters who seek to impossible to be together, you would give for love? It is a subtle question, in this story the characters are driven by desire and charm, forgetting that it is forbidden, plus everything was governed by the laws of fashion, all handled by the rules of glamor, but it does not matter if yours is true love.
I think when I read a book, enrich my vocabulary, learn grammar, and learn new things, I find that there are interesting things to every story and it also improved my speech.
In the strategies, I like to read in a calm place, i looking for a place with good light; Good to be concentrated, note reading, have alongside a dictionary, so search for unknown words and then finished reading is advisable to make a feedback, for compression reading.
In conclusion, read leads to better learning, it is good to use reading strategies and thus improve skills and communication skills.

Hi everybody, I chose "Murders in the rue Morgue" by Edgar Allan Poe, I decide to read this book because I love the mental process, the drama and I tried to find the murderer of the women, but the final was unexpected; Its so exciting read a book and feel like if you were the main character. I learn a lot of vocabulary when I read any book in english and this is the main reason to read this book, also I can see the structure of many sentences and learn about grammar just by reading. I used strategies like read in a quiet place, with a good light and with a pencil and a paper near to write the unknown words and I read sitting up. ReplyDeleteThe book that I decided to read is The Age of Innocence written by Edith Wharton.
I decided to read this book because is an interesting history; this story delighted me, really. It has everything I like: descriptions of a social sphere and everything you need to do be “accepted”, many things which not is say, difficult loves and the rules of the society to which the character belongs,
The book is full of descriptions but who never come to be heavy, because it makes you to imagine you better things, as if you were watching a movie. Dresses, rooms, everything.
It*s a wonderful and great, story that wouldn't mind me repeating it or read for his style .
For reading this book I need to stay in a comfortable environment without noise. Also have on hand dictionary because I need to understand all words, besides help me for getting new vocabulary and grammar. This reading will help me to improvement English a lot, because I am going to learn o lot of new vocabulary and probably the use of different tenses in all topics at the same time.
Finally I think that this book can train me like a whole person and different events, things that happen in the real live.

ReplyDeleteThe president´s murderer is a book very interesting, because it is a story about suspense; its title show us how will be the development of the story, and I chose this book for the title, because I like riding story about suspense or about black novel, like “the adventure of Sherlock Holmes”. For that reason, I enjoy to read this kind of readings. As for the author, she is, according to my research, Jennifer Basset. She is a teacher and she has written stories by the Oxford Bookworms library.
First of all, when I read an English book, I should have a dictionary at hand, because this is a way for learning word news about English; so to read in English, I think, that is a learning style that I use for improving my English understanding and this way, I review aspect such as: grammar, spelling, vocabulary, etc.
To read that kind of reading, for me, do not is tedious, because I chose the book and this was not a reading obligatory. I consider that with this activity I learned more aspects, because whit this assignment, I am improving my learning process, because I am doing my favorite leisure (to read and to write).
From my point of view, I have my own strategies about the reading, for example, I like reading in my bed at night, but I need silence around me. On the other hand, when I read some book, like this, I check the reading (title, subheadings, illustrations and graphs). Also, I take notes and I make a list about new words in English. When I have a doubt, I ask questions to some teacher or assistant.
Finally, this book helped me to recognize my skills and I want to implement them for improving my learning process in English language.

ReplyDeleteI have decided to read The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, written by Mark Twain. I chose this book because when I was a child, I saw cartoons based on this book, I really enjoyed the adventures that Tom and his friends lived, and the funny and strange things they did. To read this book, I want to improve my reading and writing skills. Also, I want to acquire new vocabulary and achieve better understanding of what I read.
On the other hand, I am trying reading strategies such as highlighting and underlining key information. Besides, I am searching for unknown words and I am creating an alternative text translating difficult material into my own words, and summarizing the reading. In addition, it is important for me reading aloud to concentrate and to understand better what I read.
Finally, I consider that reading can help me to develop my learning process because the more I read, the more words I gain. In every reading, I am exposed to words used in context, which will improve my speaking and writing fluency. Also, I can learn grammar structures and remember the proper spelling of words. Besides, Listening as I read aloud can help me improve my pronunciation skills. In this order, when I improve reading skills, my listening, speaking and writing skills can improve too.

ReplyDeleteI chose the book “THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER” by MARK TWAIN.
I decided read this book because one day in another class, the teacher told about this book, he said that “The adventures of Tom Sawyer” has been one of first books that he´s been read because it was created a singular curiosity from when he saw somebody read this book in his first class of english so, He told about Tom Sawyer and how do that other kids did his hard work, like his punishment. So, I guess that I stayed with that curiosity and soon I wanted read about Tom Sawyer.
I hope get out valuables things for example, what say us the autor with this story or why he chose a kid for speak about different ways of live in a society oppressive, beacuse Tom almost is looking for liberty, looking for new adventures. Also, I wanted learn about new vocabulary, expressions and author´s ideas.
I tried to read in a silent place and calm place for read and comprehension were very good. Also, read sitting up with a good light, with a good music.
I consider that the Reading is very importan in a learning process because this way I can know firstly vocabulary, expressions, ideas and after know about how people write and so I can write about me or another person or another happened, success, etc.
The name of the book is Animal Farm; before of the reading I believed that it was the name of a story for children, but when I read the first chapter I understood that it was an interesting comparison between a farm and a country with a dictator as leader, and that George Orwell, the author, used the characteristics of the animals for showing the environment of the dictatorships, especially in the case of the Russian Revolution; with a particular character in the power: a pig called Napoleon (Stalin).
ReplyDeleteI chose Animal Farm because Orwell wrote a mythical book called 1984, I always have wanted to read it, so I decided to know to the author through another book, I found this story of the farm with human characteristics and I liked it. Also all topics pertaining to: comunism, Marx, Russian Revolution, Lenin... are very interesting for me.
I wanted to find in the novel some ideas about the regimes, the control of the power and the evolution of an ideology with the pass of the time, and effectively I found it, I read (I imagined) how the pigs controlled the farm, how they changed the statements, the evidences of their corruption, the stupidity of the town, the relationships with the human neighbors; and specially the changes of the ideas of Old Major's speech (Marx-Engels-Lenin), good intentions of Snowball (Trotsky) and hard work of Boxer and his partners (worker class), for the unfair organization and corrupt management of Napoleon and his comrades (Stalin).
I tried to reread when I did not understand, to return for remembering some characters (Benjamin, Muriel, Moses, etc.), and do not read when my environment was inappropriate; I attempted to know the menanigs of unknwon words analyzing their context. I realized that I have forgotten many animals' names, and, finally, I knew new vocabulary about farms and about policy.
In addition to have learn many new things about Russian Revolution, the fact of Stalin's propaganda, the characteristics of Trotsky, I believe that reading Animal Farm I have learned to take advantage of a book in all its dimensions: socio-historical sphere, construction of characters, new vocabulary, style of an author; I saw this reading as a challenge, because I never had read in english 118 pages so I am happy, I knew many new things. Principally the strategies that I chose were Reading comprehension; underline every idea that I considered important, is a good way to learn.
So I think that first that all, I can use many strategies but I chose this story and I’m interested, is the first thing that we have to consider, because is important to be interested in the text, history, novel, etc.To read with happiness.

I like read stories about mystery and research because when I started to read I feel curiosity and I wanted to continue reading, moreover the stories about Sherlock Holmes has an excellent script, since at the beginning until the final.
I decided read this book because it had characters very uncommon, each one with different personalities.
When I started to read I did not understand some words, so I sought the meaning.
I want to learn more vocabulary, new expressions to communicate with others. I want to be in the habit of reading and I learn some general knowledge.
With respect to strategies, tried to choose an interest book, I read in silence place, sitting up, because I can be comfortable and understand the story.

Im Walter Perez Duarte The book that i chosse is called The black Cat ando other stories by american writer Edgar Allan Poe. i decided to read it because i really like the stories of terror and fear, as do my imagination to a world full of mistery and extraordinary characters of beyond. what i want to get out of the bookis the importance in the development of imagination andincreasing vocabulary, and also to share the great work of one of my favorite writers, so that others willl be encourage to read, and that will not be dissapointed, because the stories are full of fantasy, horror, drama, suspense. The book that I chose is “The Picture of Dorian Gray” and its author is Oscar Wilde. I decided to read this book because I like stories that have something of fancy, love and tragedy. On the other hand, I decided to read this book because “Oscar Wilde” is considered one of the most prominent playwrights in London.
I want to get out of it, is to understand better some tenses and learning several vocabulary. I am going to try the next reading strategies such as scan the entire reading, and, I am going to focus on the most interesting parts. And, I am going to try do not watch TV at the same time.
I consider that reading is important because through this we can know how times are used, learning vocabulary and memorizing verb conjugations.
The book that I chose is called “The secret garden” and was written by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to read this book because sometimes we do not care about children and we think that they are just kids, what we do not see is that they have their own problems as well. Maybe these are not as our problems. Maybe we do not see these so complex, but it are in its measure. Because in all their innocence, they are still discovering a new world, their own world.
I would like to understand, maybe in a very superficial way, how a kid’s mind works. What is the cultural shock that a kid can obtain? How the fantasy helps to us to survive in this violent world?
I would like to use the scanning strategy. Also I will read in a safe place, where I feel calm and good.
Like all the readings that we have made, it will help me to expanding my vocabulary, to look for grammatical structures and the most important to think of the important of kid’s ideas.

ReplyDeleteI chose the book “A CHRISTMAS CAROL”. The book was writing by Charles Dickens in 1843, he is an important and recognized English author, how has wrote many interesting and important books. I decided read this book because it can tells us an interesting story of the Christmas time In Londres and I like the readings that this type of stories, that can take us by an imaginary world where we can go in depth into the story.
Add I want to read it because like this i can get unknown vocabulary, practice my reading and understand the main idea of the text.
To read this book I think that is necessary use the different reading strategies like read in a silent place to get a bigger concentration, choose the unknown vocabulary, reflect about the reading and if it is possible tell it to another person. It can help me to learn more about vocabulary, grammar, and improve my knowledge as a student and my learning process.

ReplyDeleteOne day the Dr Watson received a call from friend Sherlock Holmes , when Holmes told him that needed my assistance with a new case , so watso decided go to Holmes ‘house.
They were in house and start to talk about a new and estrange case with the professor presbury ’s behavior and his dog.
